In 1947 Lima Corporation of Lima. Ohio, merged with General Machinery Corporation of Hamilton, Ohio, to form Lima-Hamilton Corporation. In 1951 it merged with Baldwin to form the Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corporation. Total Lima Hamilton Locomotive sales were 174 units, and the Lima designs were not carried over into the Baldwin Lima Hamilton line. Of the 174 Lima Hamilton locomotives built – Only 7 are known to have survived. Of these 7, Whitewater Valley Railroad currently has 4 in their inventory, of which 2 are operable. Sizeable donation of corporate records The donated materials covers Niles Tools, Hamilton Engine, Baldwin, Lima-Hamilton, and B-L-H. We don't have a complete list at this time, but it includes tracings, locomotive operators manuals, photo's and catalogues. In addition to the above
material, the Whitewater Valley Railroad
has a vast amount of railroad manuals, magazines, books, records, etc.
that have been donated to us over the years. These are currently being
professionally recorded, cataloged, and indexed. In the future. this catalog will be available for viewing on this site. |
The Whitewater Valley Railroad is a 501 ( C ) 3 not for profit operating railroad museum dedicated to the preservation of a historic branch line railroad, to the restoration of railroad equipment, and to the conduct of educational railroad programs. |
